Before Booking Your Driving Test

Welcome to Passing Place Driving School, your dedicated partner in helping you become a confident and safe driver. As you get closer to your driving test, it’s important to understand the conditions that allow your instructor to accompany you on the big day. We’re here to guide and support you so you’re fully prepared to succeed.

Using Your Instructor’s Car

If you’d like to use your instructor’s car for your driving test, please note:

  • You must give at least one month’s notice.
  • To be eligible, students must demonstrate test readiness by reaching Level 5 in their training.

For more details on test readiness, visit the DVSA website.

DVSA’s Guidelines for Test Readiness

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has set clear guidelines to ensure all learners are well-prepared for their practical driving tests. These guidelines aim to improve pass rates and reduce waiting times by making sure pupils meet the required standards before taking their tests.

Promoting Test Standards and Safe Driving

At Passing Place Driving School, we follow DVSA’s recommendations closely. Your instructor will only accompany you to the driving test if you meet certain conditions. This ensures that you’re truly ready and safe to take the test.

Requirements to Use Your Instructor’s Car for the Test:

  • You must demonstrate that you’re “test ready” by driving safely without serious or dangerous faults.
  • You’ll need to pass a mock driving test with your instructor, showing you can handle real test conditions.

Your instructor will assess your readiness based on key driving skills, including hazard awareness, speed control, and following road signs correctly.
